Likutey Moharan - The Final Editions

FINISH THE WORK STARTED OVER 200 YEARS AGO!

Dear Chaver (Friend) of Breslov Research Institute,

After many years of hard work and tremendous help from the One Above, we are nearing completion of the multi-volume Likutey Moharan in English project. This is a milestone in Breslov history. The series features full Hebrew-English text on facing pages, a running commentary based on traditional Breslov sources and profound, highly accessible notes drawing from the Written Torah, Gemara, Zohar, Midrash and kabbalistic works.

As you may know, Breslov Research Institute recently published Volume 13 of this series. There are only two more volumes that remain to be done. The zekhus (merit) of joining us is in completing this mitzvah is open to everyone and anyone who believes in bringing this unprecedented project to fruition.

Our Sages observe, "im ein kemach, ein Torah . . . Without money, there is no Torah" (Pirkey Avot 3:17). Breslover Chassidim point out that the Hebrew word kemach (literally, flour) has the same gematria (numerical value) as the name “Nachman.” This means is that if we give some of our "flour" for Rebbe Nachman’s holy books, we’ll surely succeed in connecting to Torah—and in helping others to do so, as well, for Rebbe Nachman’s works are keys to each area and level of Torah.

The Breslov Research Institute is in earnest need of your partnership. Our Sages teach that one who helps complete a mitzvah is accredited the entire mitzvah. Your contribution, great or small, gives you a genuine claim to this rare mitzvah.

For a generous contribution of $180 you can sponsor a page of Likutey Moharan with an opportunity to dedicate that page in honor or in memory of the person of your choice. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a complimentary copy sent directly to your home.

So please join us for the final leg of this project and be sure to share this opportunity with your friends.

Please take a few minutes to watch this video, in which Rabbi Kramer gives more details about this amazing project.

Secret of Rain!

Posted by Aryeh ben Avraham | Labels: , , , , | Posted On Wednesday, 26 March 2008 at 18:51

By Tzvi Fishman
As if Israel doesn’t have enough problems with a host of savage enemies, a government of corrupt and mediocre politicians, and millions of Jewish refuseniks who refuse to give up the exile, now there is no rain. The water level of the Sea of Galilee is very low, and farmers are bracing for a dry and economically disastrous summer.
The Talmud teaches that the power over rain is one of the three keys that the Almighty has kept for Himself - the key of Rain, the key of Childbirth, and the key of the Resurrection of the Dead” (Taanit 2A).
Before exploring the connection between transgression and rain, this concept of keys must be explained. Since G-d rules over everything, what is the meaning of retaining three keys for Himself? The answer is that in establishing His sovereignty over the world, G-d has appointed celestial messengers to rule over different aspects of existence. For example, G-d Himself rules exclusively over the Land of Israel, but over every other country, He has appointed an angel. This celestial minister gives each nation its distinctive culture.
Because the key of rain is in G-d’s keeping, when rain does not fall in Eretz Yisrael, we know that G-d Himself has turned off the faucet. It isn’t some freak disturbance of regional weather patterns, but, as the Talmud teaches, the result of our sins:
“Rabbi Tanchum ben Hamilai said, No rain falls unless the sins of Israel have been forgiven” (Taanit 7B). The Talmud goes on to list many transgressions that cause the withholding of rain, but to understand the secret of the matter, we will turn to the holy Zohar.
It turns out that the secret is no mystery at all, as it explicitly states in the Shema:
“Take heed to yourselves, that your heart not be deceived, and you turn aside and worship other gods and bow down to them; and then the anger of the L-rd will be inflamed against you, and He will shut up the heaven that there be no rain, and that the Land yield not its fruit; and you perish quickly from the good Land which the L-rd gives you” (Devarim, 11:17).

For your information there is a terrible spiritual battle going on in the spiritual world, and it is related directly to the meeting at Annanapolis this week, where our Prime Minister Ehud
Olmert has to defend the right of Israel to the Holy Land that Jerusalem can never ever be divided.
I beg you to please start reciting Tehillim, doing Mitzvot and Tzedakah.
Let us all unite in prayer that we may receive mercy from Hashem.
Let us pray that Hashem do as the Talmud states on the verse, "I will be gracious to whomever I will be gracious," - even to the unworthy, may it be:
"G-d's will that we merit this in these coming days, through Kindness and Mercy" - Amen.

To Love or not to Love!

Posted by Aryeh ben Avraham | Labels: , , , , | Posted On at 14:18

Just a few days ago the press informed of a Jewish woman, her kids and their few belongings, being dislodged or evicted from the apartment she was living in, by the owner.
The news also stated that an Arab yes an Arab gave her lodging.
What the news did not say, was that no Jew offered her help or any kind of assistance in those terrible moments she was undergoing.
This matter did not give me any peace at all, every now and then it would creep in to my mind making me think about this distressed Jewess.
Can you just for a minute put yourself in the shoes of this distressed Jewess, what must she have been going through in the middle of the street with her kids and their few belongings, not knowing what to do or where to go.
Now also, just imagine what Hashem must have felt when he saw that none of His children ¿us Jews? approached this Jewess and offered to take her and her kids to his house or any other kind of help or assistance.
We also know perfectly well that Hashem does not go around twisting our arms to have us do His Will, and He certainly was not going to leave His daughter stranded on the street with her kids to suffer and feel ashamed and humiliated; so He made an Arab yes an Arab help her out in this difficult situation.
What can we learn from this incident, I would say a lot.
It is more than obvious that we are heading in the wrong direction, that is alienated from Hashem, that we no longer hear Him and are living just thinking on ourselves, I, Me, Myself; feeding our egos to such a point that we are no different from the gentiles.
It seems that we no longer want to comply with one of the most important Mitzvahs:
Leviticus = Vayikra - Chapter 19 18. You shall neither take revenge from nor bear a grudge against the members of your people; "you shall love your neighbour as yourself". I am the Lord. "Giving comes from the holy side of the spiritual spectrum, while taking comes from the impure, dark side".
With all this is that we are living presently, the Arabs wanting to take control over Jerusalem, Jews evicted from their houses in Holy Land by Jews, the constant missile attacks from the Palestinians and Hizballah, the Government's insensible attitude toward the need of the poor in the Eretz Israel, and please do not forget all those children in Eretz Israel that are not able to eat a decent hot meal every day and even go without eating some days and many other things that we just do not want to see and prefer to ignore as long as it does not affect us.
The serious part of this, is that we start asking why Hashem is allowing all this to happen, it is more than obvious that we are alienated from Him and the He is telling us to return to Him and Torah.
The Talmud Yerushalmi - Yoma 1:1 - states: R. Yochanan bar Tora said, "We find that the First Temple was destroyed because the Jews committed idolatry, adultery, and murder. But at the time of the Second Temple, we know that they studied Torah diligently, observed mitzvot meticulously, and possessed all of the good character traits. [Nonetheless, they were exiled] because they loved money and hated one another for no reason; and groundless hatred is worse than these three cardinal sins." As Jerusalem comes to risk, we must stand together in strength and loving kindness for each other. Otherwise, the enemy from within will win before the enemy from without.
It is a spiritual fact, that the day that in Eretz Israel "love your neighbour as yourself" prevails within us, we shall be an example for the nations of the world and the enemies of the Jews will not prevail any longer and the front door will be wide open for Masiach to come.
Blessings
